Research & Thesis
Undergraduate Thesis
Title: Development and Characterization of Natural Fiber-Reinforced Polymer Composites
- Fabricated epoxy composites reinforced with palm and coconut fibers using hand lay-up method.
- Tested mechanical properties at varying fiber content (5%, 10%, 15%).
- Performed tensile, flexural, and impact analysis.
- Identified process limitations such as surface irregularities and voids.
Project-Based Characterization
1. Artefact (Chequer Plate SS304) Analysis:
- Conducted Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES) for composition analysis.
- Measured mechanical strength via tensile, hardness and impact testing.
- Performed microstructural analysis to identify austenite and carbide phases.
2. Steel Failure Analysis on a welded sample:
- Performed Nick Break Test for weld inspection.
- Analyzed hardness profile and fracture morphology.
- Diagnosed brittle failure initiated by slag inclusion with ductile propagation.
